Chelsea players celebrates with Eden Hazard after his goal against Bournemouth.

Chelsea earned a vital three points after they beat Bournemouth by a lone goal inside the Vitality Stadium.

Eden Hazard scored the lone goal for the defending champions in the fifth minute after the resumption of the second half of the game. An Alvaro Morata’s lofted pass into the opponent’s half flew over the head of Simon Francis, who failed in his attempt to clear the ball in flight ;Hazard latched on the ball and raced with it into the eighteen yard box, beating goalkeeper Asmir Begovic with a low strike.

Chelsea dominated the first half of the match; they had majority of the ball possession and had more attacking intent than the home team, who fell back in numbers to defend in their own half of their pitch.

Chelsea had a chance to score in the twenty fourth minute of the game but Morata shot wide from inside the eighteen yard box after Hazard, who had received a poor hit-out ball by Begovic, set him up in a one-one situation with the goalkeeper.

Begovic pulled another save from Morata in the thirty fourth minute of the game. The Chelsea’s striker has skillfully evaded his markers in Bounemouth’s eighteen yard box, but his final shot was pushed out of danger by Asmir Begovic.

Benik Afobe was very dangerous the few times he received the ball in the opponent’s half, but was unable to link-up play with his team mates, who were stationed in their own half of the pitch.

Bournemouth’s game came alive in the second half of the game, and they became more purposeful the moment former Liverpool’s winger Jordan Ibe was introduced into the game.

Ibe almost scored the home side’s equalizer when he shot the ball at Chelsea’s goal from an unmarked position inside the opponent’s eighteen yard box, but the flying tackle of Antonio Rudiger deflected the well-struck ball out of play.

Cesc Fabegas shot wide from the goalpost after receiving an Hazard’s pass that located him inside the opponent’s six yard box in the dying minutes of the game.

A Bournemouth’s attacking play led to Jordan Ibe sending a pass to Steve Cook inside Chelsea’s eighteen yard box, but Cook’ss well-conceived idea of curling the ball into the net failed because there was no sufficient force in it to trouble Thibaut Coutois, who caught the ball routinely.

Chelsea held on their one goal lead till the final whistle. This important away game win takes the Blues back to a top-four position on the Barclays Premier league table.
