Peter Crouch wheels away in celebration after scoring Stoke's City equalizer against Leicester City

Stoke City and Leicester City settled for a two-two draw in an exciting Premier League match played inside the Britannia Stadium.

The first half was an explosive encounter that took about half an hour to come alive.

The two teams came powerfully into the game, with neither side creating clear-cut goal-scoring opportunities owing to their good-defensive organization.

It took the experience of Ryan Shawcross to check the darting runs of Jamie Vardy.

Damari Gray gave torrid time to Kourt Zouma on the left flank, the Leicester’s winger was the source of energy and creativity from either flanks.

Eric Choupo-Moting had a chance to put his side ahead in the twenty eighth minute of the game ; on receiving a pass from Ramandan Sobhi, he succeeded in creating a space to shot at the goalpost after shaking off Harry Maguire inside the eighteen yard box , but his curling shot was too feeble to beat Schmeichel who managed to punch the ball out if danger.

Leicester scored immediately after the missed opportunity by Choup-Moting. A Riyard Mahrez’s corner-kick was headed in front of Vincente Iborra inside Stoke’s eighteen yard box, and the Spaniard blasted the ball into the net to put his side ahead.

Jack Butland made a brilliant save of Shinji Okazaki’s effort from his penalty box. A dangerous cross from Gray had found Okazaki inside Stoke’s eighteen yard box but Butland denied him the opportunity of putting his name in the scorer’s sheet.

Iborra had a chance to double his side’s lead few minutes after his first goal, but he headed over the crossbar a Gray’s cross that located him in the opponent’s eighteen yard box.

Xherdan Saqiri equalized for the home side in the thirty ninth of the match. The Swiss winger initiated a counter-attacking move from the right flank of the pitch; he raced with the ball into Leicester’s eighteen yard box, cut the ball to his left foot and beat Schmeichel with a low curling shot.

The second half was just as exciting as the first half of the game.

Riyad Mahrez powerful shot from about forty yard was sailing into the goal-post , only for Butland to punch it out of danger.

Choupo- Moting turned out to be a source of creative play for the home team. He attacked Leicester from the left flank of the pitch, where he successfully linked-up with his team mates in the Foxes’ eighteen yard box.

Mahrez scored Leicester goal in the fifty ninth minute of the game, in a manner very similar to Shaqiri’s goal. The Algerian national was freed to attack Stoke City from the right flank after latching onto a long ball from Wilfred Ndidi.

With the home team down by a goal , Peter Crouch was introduced into the game. The giant-statured striker soon made his presence felt when he powered the ball from his side’s corner-kick into the net to bring the score-line to parity.

Stoke almost ran away with victory in the last minute of additional time; Schmeichel was able to punch out  of danger Zouma’s goal-bound header , just the way he did to Shawcross’ header earlier in the same half of the game.
